Rep. Elijah Cummings, the Democratic ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, released more than 200 pages of interview transcripts Tuesday afternoon after the committee’s Chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), refused to do so.Cummings is seeking to dispel any notion that targeting of Tea Party groups by the Internal Revenue Service was ordered from Washington.
Cummings released transcripts with an IRS screening group manager described as a “conservative Republican,” who said that the targeting of the Tea Party groups applying for tax-exempt status started with low-level workers in Cincinnati. The witness also said that there was no communication on the targeting with any senior IRS officials or with anyone in Washington or the Obama administration.
Insert Nelson Muntz laugh here.
The sad part is, he (Issa) won’t be taken to task for outright lying to the American people in an attempt to run a smear. There will be no furious outrage and pounding on it from Fox News, and this story will fade away like it never happened.
(I think I messed up when submitting this the first time, but if it’s already gone through, I’m SO sorry—I don’ mean to be a spammer.)
I have a very hard time telling my boyfriend what I want to do/making choices/initiating sex/etc. Trying to encourage me to be more confident, he said, “Come on, the worst I could do is say no.”
At my mother’s house, this was never the worst that could happen at ALL. If I asked for permission and it was denied, I would be screamed at and frozen out and treated differently for days because I didn’t sense what would and would not be allowed right off the bat. I was taught that it was my job to anticipate the wishes of others, and if I didn’t, they would hold it against me, even if I backed down right away. Now I’m terrified of hearing the word “no” because I feel like it signifies a slip I’ll have to scramble to atone for. If someone tells me to stop doing something, I stop immediately and feel sick with dread that they’re furious at me and I’m an awful person.
It didn’t occur to me that this wasn’t a normal way of thinking until I realized that the important people in my life now seem to be able to casually forgive me for picking a restaurant that’s not their personal favorite. Sometimes I feel like I’m annoying them, though, because they’ll get impatient with me when I’m taking too long to make a decision and say “Just pick what you want!” The thing is…what I want above all is not to make them angry/disappointed/displeased.

“Love the fetus, hate the child.”
America makes it near impossible for a woman to stay autonomous—hard to get family planning resources/make the choice of getting an abortion, and harder to get child care support after the baby is born. Leaving women destitute and dependants everywhere.Look at Canada! Not only do we give almost a full year off, it can be either maternity or paternity. That’s right, daddy can stay home with the baby while the mother goes back to work. And the leave can be also be split between them. For example, the mother could take six months, and then the father could take the other six. Did I also mention that the parent on leave continues to receive pay and is guaranteed their job back?
wait what do you mean americans dont have maternity leave
america has unpaid maternity leave
Celebrity chefPaula Deenhas admitted tousing the N-wordand tellinginsensitive racial jokesduring a May 17 deposition that was videotaped — and also confessed to her brother’s cocaine, pornography and alcohol addictions!
Paula, 66, admitted to using the N-word and wanting black waiters to play the role of slaves at awedding partyshe was putting together, a new bombshell report from theNational Enquirer claims.
“The personal disclosures uncovered have stunned Paula’s family and could mark the collapse of her entire empire,” a source told the tabloid.
The Emmy-winning kitchen queen was questioned for three hours because of the $1.2 million 2012 lawsuit in which the former General Manager of their Savannah, Georgia, restaurant, Lisa Jackson, claimed use of the N-word by Paula and sexual harassment and infliction of distress and assault by her brother Bubba Hiers.
When asked by Lisa’s Atlanta-based attorney if she’d ever used the N-word, Paula responded, “Yes, of course,” and gave examples of times she used the offensive term.
In terms oftelling racist jokes, Paula said, “It’s just what they are — they’re jokes…most jokes are about Jewish people, rednecks, black folks…I can’t determine what offends another person.”
And when asked if she wanted black men to play the role of slaves at aweddingshe explained she got the idea from a restaurant her husband and her had dined at saying, “The whole entire waiter staff was middle-aged black men, and they had on beautiful whitejacketswith a black bow tie.
“I mean, it was really impressive. That restaurant represented a certain era in America…after the Civil War, during the Civil War, before the Civil War…It was not only black men, it was black women…I would say they were slaves.”
During the deposition, Bubba also made shocking admissions, including using the N-word in reference toPresident Barack Obama.
“While Paula and Bubba did make some pretty damaging confessions in their depositions, what they admitted to only scratches the surface of what actually goes on in their daily lives,” an insider told theEnquirer.
To find out more about Paula and Bubba’s disturbing deposition, pick up the latest issue of the National Enquirer, on newsstands Thursday.
but is anyone REALLY surprised, tho.
I’m not sure how anyone can see anything here but the face of unadulterated evil

High heels can be a pain in the feet
Often painstakingly selected to complete outfits, high heels put stress not just on feet, but on ankles, knees and backs, contributing to the approximately $3.5 billion spent annually in the United States for women’s foot surgeries, which cause them to lose 15 million work days yearly.
Ouch.
The Penguin Protesters
Penguins, the flightless birds who take a natural standing posture in everyday life could not have found a better climate for social relevancy than in Taksim Square.
It was only fitting for the Turkish cartoon magazine Penguen to publish a critical magazine cover this week with a look at the recent “Standing Man” (Duran Adam) phenomenon. The clever way Penguen mixed memes with real life turned into a delightful magazine cover consisting of a penguin standing next to a standing protester in Istanbul.
A preview of the magazine cover was posted by Penguen cartoonist, Selçuk Erdem on Twitter. The tweet garnered almost 11,000 retweets on Twitter:

— Selçuk Erdem (@selcukerdem)The penguin meme first began in early June as a sarcastic response to the lack of local media coverage, specifically by CNN Turk’s “airing of a nature documentary featuring penguins while CNN International provided live footage of the brutal means used to disperse demonstrators sparked outrage that, within hours, transformed efforts to preserve a park from destruction into a countrywide protest against police violence and media silence.”
Radio Free Europe also reported on the various creative uses of penguins as a symbol of protest.
